On the hills of the report that Rivers State has discharged the second corona virus case in the State, the Principal Partner of the Garden City Advancement Award Mr. Robinson Koyoyo and the entire governing council of the GACAA board Commend the executive Governor of River State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike for his well-founded commitment towards the fight against the novel corona virus ravaging the world as it were. We thank you and encourage you not to relent your effort in protecting the state from this global pandemic as you continue to put measures in place to prevent the spread of the virus, we also applaud your health system and only hope you continue to strengthen the healthcare delivery system even after this pandemic.
We are also using this medium to thank the public Health workers, the doctors and nurses who are in the frontline of the fight against the deadly COVID-19, as it regards prevention, detection, and treatment, while also acknowledging the Health Commissioner, Prof Princewill Chike for leading the team of medical professionals in the state, the World Health Organization for their participation and contributions so far and the NCDC team in Rivers State and everyone supporting the state at a time like this.
We urge the State Executive Council through her committees to continue to sensitize and inform the good people of Rivers State both indigenes and non-indigenes on ways of preventing the spread of coronavirus, and also device means of reaching out to the remote and rural areas in the state with the relief materials or palliatives to ensure strict adherence to the stay at home rule as the lockdown of major economic activities may be prolonged.
At this time it is only normal and rational for all stakeholders to come together in unity irrespective of their personal interests and political affiliations to work together to make sure that the state remains free of any case of the dreaded covid-19. We must do our best to maintain law and order and follow directives of the state even though it may seem very hard at this time.
It has been said that we as humans know how to rebuild and revive the economy but we do not know how to bring a dead person back to life so it is more important to stay alive than die in the bid of trying to boost the economy at a time like this.
Your Excellency, we congratulate you and your leadership for the achievements so far and we hope that you will consolidate on the successes achieved on the fight against coronavirus, as you may begin to think of ways to work out modalities on gradually reviving the economy without endangering the state or its citizens.
The local government chairmen, commissioners, assembly members and councilors making sure that they show support by providing palliatives to their immediate constituencies is the right step in the right direction, well-done.
We strongly believe this pandemic will soon come to an end as we enjoin the people of rivers state and the world to pray to God to heal our land. Our heart goes out to the families all over the world who have lost a loved one to this disease, accept our sympathy, for every one out there doing their best to prevent the spread of this disease, keep putting the effort, don’t give up. To all the media houses and their staffs we appreciate what you are doing in terms of enlightenment, entertaining and educating the public, we on our part will continue to support the fight against this virus.
Stay Safe, Stay at home, and if you must go out maintain the social distance rule.
