President Donald Trump has gone on a Twitter spree, mostly to blast former president Barack Obama after the latter criticized POTUS’ mishandling of the coronavirus crisis. But instead of directly responding to Obama’s comments, Trump has been using other users’ tweets to fire back at his predecessor.
Calling out the former president for the so-called “OBAMAGATE!”, he retweeted a post that slammed Obama for speaking out against Trump. “Barack Hussain Obama is the first Ex-President to ever speak against his successor, which was long tradition of decorum and decency. Should anyone really be surprised?” read the post by an apparent Trump supporter.
“#TrumpsJealousOfObama? I SERIOUSLY doubt it…#ObamaGate #MAGA #KAG #FoxNews,” the tweet continued, as Trump added in the caption, “He got caught, OBAMAGATE!”
Trump also reposted a tweet that dubbed Obama the “WORST EVER” president in America’s history and another which alleged that Obama “was too busy spying on @realDonaldTrump.” The latter tweet additionally asked a rhetorical question, “Was Obama the most corrupt President in history?”
Those were just a few of Trump’s posts that were addressed to his predecessor after it was reported that Obama gave a harsh critique of the White House’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. The former president called the response of Trump’s administration to the crisis “an absolute chaotic disaster.”
In a leaked 30-minute phone call with members of the Obama Alumni Association on Friday, May 8, Obama said, “It would have been bad even with the best of governments. It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset of, what’s in it for me and to heck with everybody else, when that mindset is operationalized in our government.”
Dismissing the criticism from the former president, the White House’s new press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has told CNN, “President Trump’s coronavirus response has been unprecedented and saved American lives.”
